Ralf In Memoriam

Ralf

Ralf was meant to do amazing things in the line of duty. He was born in Germany on September 19, 2009.  His training prepared him for the more than 700 deployments, resulting in numerous arrests and seizures. He is loved and known by many in our communities. Ralf was the very first K9 assigned to the public schools in Cumberland, Maryland. In the beginning of his career, Ralf was assigned to the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force before moving to patrol.

His certifications included: American K9 Narcotics Association, Petersburg College K9 Narcotics Operations, National K9 Association, and the National Association of Professional K9 Handlers.

On July 23, 2021 K9 Ralf was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma, which is a form of cancer. He was recently retired so he could rest and enjoy life and passed on April 11, 2022.

Buddy_In_Memoriam

Buddy

Buddy served as a Narcotics Detection K9 for the Frostburg City Police. He was previously diagnosed with a seizure disorder, as well as an enlarged liver and Cushing’s Disease. After retirement, he continued participating in local K9 events and demonstrations, while sharing his sweet and gentle nature with the local community. Buddy was loved and cared for by his faithful partner, Corporal Grimm, of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, and his wife, Ashley.

Sadly, in February 2023, Buddy lost his battle with Cushing’s Disease. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

VooDoo

VooDoo

Canine Office VooDoo joined the force as a faithful partner to Pfc. Trevor Baluch in April 2022.
He was trained in drug detection, tracking, and article searches. During his time with the CPD, Voodoo did fantastic work for our community and was an instrumental part of recovering contraband, solving crimes, and making this community a safer place to live.

VooDoo passed away unexpectedly due to illness on 12/26/2022. Although his time with us was short, his impact will be felt for many years to come.
